The Tenney School

Welcome to The Tenney School.  Our mission is to promote one-to-one learning and the acquisition of positive attitudes, advanced knowledge, and skills for success. Our school firmly believes that students who are scheduled for healthy amounts of time one-to-one with their teachers will fully achieve their academic potential.  Teachers who know their students well are better able to leverage strengths, repair weaknesses, hone successful study habits, and develop the cognitive skills of students. Students who have spent time one-to-one with their instructors know better how to approach academics.

Since our founding in 1973 by my parents, George and Judy Tenney, this philosophy of individual student attention has been the foundation of our program and led to the success of our students.  We have seen hundreds of students grow, mature, and develop skills to be successful in school and in life.

Mission Statement:

The Tenney School promotes one-to-one learning and the acquisition of positive attitudes, advanced knowledge and skills for success.


The Tenney School has maintained accreditation through AdvancED (formerly the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools) since 1979. The accreditation process is repeated every five years.  The last Quality Assurance Review of The Tenney School was completed in March 2012.

The review helps focus schools on a continuous process of improvement by providing external checks, support, and feedback.

During our most recent Quality Assessment Review we received the highest possible rating in 4 of 7 categories and the second highest rating in the remaining 3.
